Our Donor

Banting House National Historic Site stands at the crossroads of Canadian medical history’s past and its future. Its ability to illuminate the past allows each visitor to experience the event that changed the world, sheds light on Dr. Banting’s contribution to Canada and the world and inspires the researchers of the future.  Our history lives here!

Since 1981, Diabetes Canada has been responsible stewards, protecting the commemorative  integrity of Banting House. That commitment was based on recognition that Banting House serves as an international site of hope in the fight against diabetes for those who have been affected by the disease, as well as providing national recognition for a great Canadian.

The goal of Banting House is to create a place of lifelong learning where people from a young child to a senior citizen can embrace Canadian history and inspire scientific discovery. As the birthplace of insulin, we seek to inspire all to search for the cure for diabetes and help reach our goal of extinguishing the Flame of Hope. Our vision of lifelong learning includes children and families, educators and researchers participating in enlightening experiences that sparks wonder, touch the heart, and expand the mind.

Banting House does not receive annual core funding for its operations from any level of government. By making a charitable donation to Banting House, you are providing critical support to all aspects of the museum’s operation from exhibitions to events to the conservation of the permanent collection.

Thank you for supporting our ongoing commitment to ensure we remain the place to celebrate Banting’s legacy and Canada’s pride in this great Canadian for generations to come and making a gift to Banting House.1

The Hon. Judge J.M. Seneshen Acquisition Fund was named for John “Jack” Seneshen, who was the driving force behind Diabetes Canada’s purchase of the birthplace of insulin and the creation of the Flame of Hope. In recognition of Judge Seneshen’s 20 years of leadership, the Fund helps to complement Banting House’s rich collection by providing support to acquisitions that exhibit historical importance or pertinence to that which is already in the collection, thereby adding to the Museum’s ability to tell the full story of Banting’s life and career.

The building and maintaining of a collection is the purpose of any museum. Please support Banting House’s commitment to preserving Banting’s life and career with a gift to the The Hon. Judge J.M. Seneshen Acquisitions Fund today.
